only go ddr3 if you're going i7. probs not worth it otherwise from what i've heard.
solid build, how much is it setting you back?

if you can afford it get a bigger HDD

terrabyte drives from msy and such are like $105 so for an extra say 30 - 50 your getting almost 3 times the space

The Q9550 is a waste of time these days, go i7, i5 or Phenom II

The price difference isn't huge any more, if you are going for a performance brand like Corsair, you'd wear it pretty easy.

Spoke to my mate and looks like I am going to get an i5, he suggested 3x2GB of ram because the i5 runs off a tri channel however I'm not sure what mobo is available now because i will be using ddr3 and i need one with bluetooth capability or something else to gain a wireless connection? I am also upgrading my hard drive up to 1Terrabyte. Looking at $1500 for the whole setup vince.

i just upgraded my rig from a amd 3000+ 1.8ghz with a 6600GT to a amd phenom 2 dual core 3.1ghz with ati4850. unlocked to a quad core. for only $450 the cpu was only $140.

i can finally play counter strike on all high settings and i have been pwning more n00bs than normal. thank you kevin rudd for the free pc upgrade.

i recommend amd products. best performance for the dollar.

Yer def go at least an I5 pref I7 .... and DDR3 .... otherwise your just bottlenecking yourself .... Also id prob amp up yur PSU a bit ... cuz yur going Iwhatever and DDR3 plus a nice Graph card, yu need some good power behind it ... id go an Antec 800 or the like ...... remember the difference between continuous output and peak output ......

yeah, i got the gigabyte 1gb version early this year and still <3 it.
not long after though the 4890 came out, prices on both dropping dramatically, and if id waited two weeks i could have been paying like $280 instead of $415 and got a 4890 instead.

ahwell,i spose its bound to happen , especially with graphics cards. Only now does the world have a card that can run far cry 2 and crysis all high, 1920x1080, and highest aa, above 60fps, this card being the 5890. the card also costs about $1000... lets hope nvidia release their 300s soon.

Far cry 2 can run dx10 everything maxed with 2xAA, 1680x1050 at a playable FPS and it looks great. Anyways my next purchase will be a new mobo and CPU, I'm still rocking my near 3year old E4400.
