so i'm thinking about upgrading mr computer again

what i'm going for is actually very similar to taxxy's final build actually:
http://www.co-opp.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=162&t=7882

so far what i'm considering getting is (rough prices included):
CPU
I5-750 - $239

Mobo
gig p55-Ud4p - $189

Graphics
260 GTX 896mg $214
275 GTX 896mg $262
will be buying 2 of either card for an SLI configuration

Ram
4gig 1333 - $109
4gig 1600 - $119
4gig 1600 patriot viper - $169

HDD
seagate 1.5tb - $139

Psu
750W zalamn $175
750W antec $177
850W corsair $217

now i have two issues i kinda want some help with (other then opinions on what i've got so far) what power supply should i be looking at? how many watts do i need, and i know i should be looking at constant power not peak power. just keeping in mind 2 gfx cards.

also i'm considering getting water cooling, something like this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Liquid-Cooling-System-CPU-NB-VGA-Pump-Radiator-Pipe_W0QQitemZ370283678754QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Components?hash=item5636a08c22 is water cooling worth it. i wouldn't mind over clocking a bit but nothing to serious. just with 3 HDD's 2 gfx and cpu wouldn't mind keeping everything in there cool. or would i be better off investing in better fans rather then liquid?

In terms of PSUs... you would probably be looking for around 750W. I have no experience with water cooling but your system will generate a fair bit of heat.

if you arent doing a serious overclock, then w/c'ing isnt worth it.

just get a decent aftermarket cpu cooler
If you really want to practive for cevo, shoot up a mall, why do you think america has so much talent?

yeah i might void the water cooling and use that money towards a good case and cooling

nice thats gonna be a hammerin setup ... as far as the PSU goes .... as long as you go with a good brand like Antec, 750W SHOULD be ok ... to be safe you could go for the 850 but ... plus, have a look at the "features" and specs of the PSUs cuz something else that will affect your purchase will be the amount of Rails on each PSU, a rail is like getting a freeway and splitting it up into smaller roads, mine has three rails so it was a bugger when it came to building time ... the less rails the better.

and yeh i wouldnt worry bout the water cooling ... plus when it comes to LANing etc its gonna be tricky to move it all about with you (with the water cooling) ... im sure i dont have to tell yu youll be needing a Full ATX case :P ...

What brand is the RAM? Why seagate? and why an I5 not an I7?

Oh and from what ive heard theres not much difference between the 260 and the 275 ... theres not actually much off a diff between most till you get to the 295, then theres a huge jump in difference and power.

not going i7 as they're phasing them out already and to be honest i don't really need that much CPU power

probably wont end up going seagate will just find the cheapest HDD i can assuming its a brand i've heard of.

and i'm not sure on which brand of ram to get if i can save a few dollars here and there on the build i'll get a decent branded set...patriot viper??

LIES!!!

i have to agree with victhebitter on that one ... HOW can you have too much power :P ... as far as HDDs go, Seagates are good, but i prefer Western Digitals ... only reason being ive had alot mote seagates die on me than WDs ... and ive had so many samsung drives go its not funny :\ ... honestly ive never heard of patriot viper ... i prefer OCZ ram ... I use 1066 DDR2 OCZ Reaper HPC RAM and found it to be really good

I agree with Drizzles, I have never had a WD fail, but I've experienced loads of Seagate failures, both at school, uni-course and home :\

decided to go ahead with this build and will hopefully purchase it on sunday

prices are still pretty much the same, hopefully the guys at the computer fair will match MSY prices. will get a WD hdd and will go with the 260 gtx just to save money and there's not TOO much difference between the 260 and 270 sli'd

hopefully get an awesome case and brother is getting me a backup copy of windows 7

Have you considered getting ATI 5770s? They support DX11 and if you are going dual GPU that would be a nice option to have for newer games. They are about the same price and performance as GTX260s... I think you should consider it :)

got my new computer

i5-750
gig p55-Ud4p
2 x sapphire ati 5770's
4gig 1600 kingston ram
WD 1.5tb
850W corsair
antec 900 case

ended up getting the 2 5770's jtm mentioned as they where slightly cheaper and handle dx11 have about 2TB of HDD space now :D with only about 600 gig of that taken up

ahah nice... you should be set for a while :)

now just wait for some more dx11 games to come out... if you want to try out dx11 download the Dirt 2 demo, only game out atm with support i believe.
